Fill-The-Boot was a great success for MDA and LA County Firefighters
Day 3 (the final day) saw the "A" shift come through BIG. After the 3 day totals it shows that Saturday the "A" shift brought in the largest amount of donations in a single day. Overall we did another amazing job.
Thank you to those that took their hour or so to help the children and adults MDA supports.
Any questions please let us know.
Again on behalf of those we support through MDA THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR A JOB WELL DONE. Now lets see what the 2 sites in BN 1 do in July....
Lets make sure the rest of our country knows how much the members of Los Angeles County 1014 support MDA
On July 24, 25 and 26 we will be out collecting donations for our annual MDA Fill-the Boot Campaign.
WE NEED YOUR HELP VOLUNTEERING (SEE BELOW)
For those that wonder why we do what we do for the MDA.....
Meet Firefighter Shaun Probert.....and his 3 young girls
On behalf of Local 1014 and the families served by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), we would like to thank you for your support of our 9th Annual Los Angeles County Local 1014 Fill the Boot July 24 – 26, 2012. Because of you, Los Angeles County Firefighters have raised over $2,544,000 in the last eight years to provide health care and support services to the families served by MDA.
With our participation in events like Fill the Boot, MDA will continue to fund comprehensive healthcare clinics at renowned facilities like Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and UCLA. In addition, MDA will fund life saving research at USC and Cedars Sinai. Last but not least, your support sends children with neuromuscular disease to MDA summer camp. Each and every one of your efforts will not go unnoticed. As the IAFF’s charity of choice, you are a part of the tradition and commitment to the families who live with muscle disease. Your character and dedication to help those in need is what our profession is.....(more)
Thank you once again for stepping up and supporting the MDA. Our communities, our residents and the members of Local 1014 can make a difference. When we are sitting around this week complaining about the weather, our back hurting, we had to stand for hours and wait in line at the amusement park or we are just thinking things are bad...remeber Shaun and his girls and all the children and adults that are affected, one way or another, by these diseases that MDA is working hard to try and cure or at least make peoples life better.
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
8th Annual (2011) Los Angeles County Firefighters Local 1014 Fill the Boot Raises over $250,000
Brothers and Sisters,
In honor of one of our own, Brian Muir, who recently lost his life to a disease MDA is working to cure, THANK YOU and congratulations for your efforts in raising over $250,000 in our 8th Annual Fill the Boot. Fifty seven years ago, IAFF answered the call to help MDA. It’s firefighters proud tradition and Local 1014 takes it very seriously. Our Union is about strength in numbers, about looking out for the other guy and about strengthening communities. Your participation in the Fill the Boot shows what we stand for and we are very proud of what we’ve accomplished.
Thank you to our Battalion/Shift Coordinators and Off Duty Support. With an event of this size and scope, it’s inevitable that we would run into issues. We appreciate those of you who stepped up to problem solve and make it happen. We couldn’t have done it without you. This was a herculean effort by membership, management, municipalities and our MDA family. Our continued support will allow MDA to fund life saving research, healthcare clinics, support groups and Summer Camp.
Thanks again for making a difference to those living with neuromuscular disease and for participating in this proud tradition. We’ll continue to fight until the cure is found.
Thank you for caring,
Local 1014 Executive Board
Thank you Los Angeles County Fire Fighters Local 1014 for your tremendous efforts in the 7th Annual Fill the Boot benefiting MDA. More than $330,000 was raised over three days. Top Dollars Raised honors go to Battalion 5 with over $37,000. Most Improved honors go to Battalion 11 with a $13,000 increase over 2008. Great job!
Special thanks to all of our individual Fill the Boot coordinators throughout the department. Because of your commitment, we were able to secure city support and ensure the success of the event. We couldn’t do the event without you. Thank you to the explorers and family volunteers who joined in the fun to bring Local 1014’s seven year total to $2.23 million.
The money raised during the Los Angeles County Fire Fighters Local 1014 7th Annual Fill the Boot will be used to fund services for Southern California families living with neuromuscular disease. MDA’s clinics at UCLA, USC, Ranchos Los Amigos and Olive View will be able to continue offering comprehensive healthcare to those families. As always, children from all over Southern California will be able to attend the best week of the year at MDA Summer Camp in August. In addition, MDA will continue to fund 45 life saving research projects throughout the state of California.
Thank you for making a difference and bringing hope to Jerry’s kids.
